Mobile March Madness….

So President Obama and I have different picks for the NCAA National Championship. But, I still have high hopes that my non-scientific approach to making my picks continues to work out. It’s not for any interoffice pool, mind you. It’s for unadulterated bragging rights at work, within my Facebook network, and definitely with my husband-to-be (who has more points than I do right now). You know how fellow March Madness fans brag, “I knew I picked the right 12 vs. 5 seed upset,” or “Yep, it was I that picked the one underdog that no one saw coming,” or “I was totally right to send my favorite team’s chief rival out early,” etc. Either way, March Madness rarely disappoints. My printed brackets sit over my desk at work here at Millennial Media like a neon sign–a glaring reminder that the Sweet Sixteen kicks off tomorrow!

But what I’ve noticed this year is that I know exactly who is playing and when, and, more importantly, who is winning each game—in even more real-time than year’s past. I know the scores and the winners whether I’m running between meetings, in the elevator, coffee shop or nail salon. How? The NCAA tourney’s mobile ad page gives me real-time scores which allows me to lay claim to big wins (ok, and several losses so far) in my brackets real-time.

When I want information…When I want to know what time the movie starts, DSW closes, when my alterations on my wedding dress are done, how my beleaguered stocks are performing, or if UCONN is going to be Purdue; I find out instantly via the mobile internet.

Real technology that delivers real access and daily benefits. Fantastic. Go Sooners!
